Art in Chaos presents “Sunshine, An Analysis of Love” a solo exhibition by Oscar Torres.
“Love is a force that breeds calamity and tranquility in our lives.” says Mr. Torres. His exhibit “Sunshine, An Analysis of Love” will run at the Art in Chaos gallery from February 1 to February 26, 2006. The one-man show is composed of 20 paintings in which love is a central theme.
Influenced by surrealism, expressionism and landscapes, Oscar Torres creates worlds with in his paintings where emotions and fantasies overpower logic and rational thought. Mr. Torres taps into personal experience in an attempt to capture love and its emotional effects. The artist scrutinizes feelings and conveys them through the use of rich colors and gestural strokes creating paintings that are full of energy.
In his solo exhibit Torres focuses on concepts and theories orbiting love. “Autumn Lust” (2003) was created by rejecting logic and embracing emotion to capture complex feelings. The use of loose brush strokes in an apparent battle with the canvas makes this piece a memorable image of autumn.
Oscar Torres was born in México and moved to the New York metro area in the early 1980's and currently lives and works in New York City.
