Biography:
Oscar Torres was born in Mexico, in 1979 and moved to the United States in the the late 1980s. Oscar grew up in Hartsdale, New York, with his younger siblings and parents.
In 1997 Oscar enrolled at The State University of New York at Westchester Community College (W.C.C) with a major of Civil Engineering. In 1998 Torres steered towards the study of Fine Arts and enrolled at the Visual Arts program of W.C.C. where he received an Associates Degree, awards for his leadership and was granted a scholarship, for his talent, to continue his studies of Fine Art.
Mr. Torres received a B.F.A. with a concentration in Graphic Design from The State University of New York at Purchase College (SUNY Purchase) in 2002. During his studies at SUNY Purchase, he continued to develop his painting technique and also began to experiment with interactive media inspired by the influence of mathematics. As a designer, Oscar worked for companies such as General Motors, Entergy, Mattel and USA Weekend. In 2004 he began working for Grey Group as a multimedia designer and moved up trough the ranks to become a creative director for the web and work on accounts, such as, Tanqueray, Captain Morgan, Pringles and numerous other clients. In 2007 Oscar began his Masters in the Interactive Communications Program at Tisch School of the Arts in NYU where he is currently attending. He is researching and developing new interfaces using physical computing, mobil technology, social networks, sustainable energy, video tracking, pixel analysis and programming. Oscar is also involved at Eyebeam's Research and Development labs, researching sustainable technology. He is also doing creative freelance for various clients from the confront of his apartment in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
