The Pet Car is a finite state machine that allows a pet, such as a gerbil, mice, chinchilla, etc. be contained in a space and roam around the floor at the same time.
The transportation unit is designed to have three states. The neutral state, where there is no motion. Mobile state 1 is when a switch is triggered by the pet moving to one side of the car which enable a motor to make a car travel towards that direction. Mobile state 2 occurs when the pet moves to the opposite side of the car triggering a second switch which reverses the car’s direction. The car is propelled by a 12v DC motor which is attached to the bottom of the car and liked to the axle of one of the sets of wheels. The motor is power by two AA batteries.
This is a video of the prototype but instead of using a pet, we are using a battery to illustrate the point.
