On a Wednesday morning, while checking the tire pressure on my bike. There was a very unsettling sound or deflation. It turns out that the area around the valve of the inner tube in the wheel had ripped. I was told by a couple of bike gurus and a bike sales man that you should not ride a bike with a patched inner tube because the chance you will get an other flat, will increase dramatically.
The ideal thing to do is to spend a few bucks for a new inner tube. So I bought an inner tube that supposedly was the same size as the one in my wheel. To my surprise the new inner tube was a little bigger.
As it turns out it is supposed to be ok to have an extra inch of inner tube, as long as it is distributed evenly trough out the wheel. This seemed to be a little twisted and i was in disbelief, so I asked around and did research and everyone said the extra inner tube was fine and would not effect the performance of the bike.
