There is a huge movement to stop Fracking for Natural Gas. This is a huge environmental threat to communities that live around the drilling sites. Fracking (Hydraulic Fracturing) contaminates water tables due to the chemicals used to make the drilling possible.
Gas companies argue that they take all necessary precautions to make sure that water contamination does not occur. The problem is that it is impossible to know that the structure of the ground looks like, therefor it is impossible to know where a water table and the aquifers begin and end. And there is no way of knowing weather the underground explosives used to release the natural gas will not damage the ground structure which leads to gas leaks and fracturing fluids into our fresh water systems.
Here are some videos on the topic.
